A board-certified neurosurgeon with over three decades of experience, Dr. Franklin Epstein serves as chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at Audie L. Murphy Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Over the course of his career, Dr. Franklin Epstein has maintained memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). This nonprofit group works to advance the specialty of neurological surgery through various programs and activities focused on research, advocacy, and education.
Registration is now open for the AANS 83rd Annual Scientific Meeting, which will take place May 2-6, 2015, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The five-day event will explore its theme, Neurosurgery’s Founding Principles, through practical clinics and educational sessions on topics related to the latest research and advancements in neurosurgical care.
In addition to scientific programming, the meeting will feature lectures by a number of prominent professionals working outside the field of neurosurgery, including James Capretta; Sally Satel, PhD; and Charles Krauthammer, MD, a Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist and former physician. Sports legends Peyton Manning and Bill Walton will also speak, at the event's opening ceremonies, and an opening reception will then be held at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
